Skipping Ahead

OK, so there is just too much to try to catch up on, so lets just pretend that I did and move on...

The funniest thing happened yesterday morning that I have to talk about! To back track, I got a new phone and Joe was looking at it trying to figure out how to set the alarm for me. He picked a tone and said, 'I think that will wake you up,' and then we went to bed.

So at 6:00 my alarm goes off, and as I reach over to try to figure out how to turn it off, I hear all of this commotion going on in the house. Next thing I know, I can hear someone in Beckett's room through the baby monitor. I look over and notice that Joe isn't in the bed. (By the way, he has never woke up to Beckett crying in the monitor, so I didn't think that was what happened). I get up to walk in there to see what in the world is going on, and Joe walks back in the room with a strange look on his face. Turns out, he thought the house was on fire and the smoke detector was going off, so he sprinted to Beckett's room to save him. Sweet and HILARIOUS all at the same time!

I love my husband!

Starting with Beckett's birth

I know, I know, I'm 2 months behind...Today I will at least post about his birth.

May 5, 2009 Joe and I arrived at the hospital anxious to meet our son. Here is a picture of us after I have been pumped full of fluids...

Dr. Hutchinson came in at 7:30 and broke my water. I was already at 6 cm and almost 100%....I didn't waste any time asking for my epidural. By 11:30 I was 'complete' and the nurse let me start pushing. Dr. H arrived around 12:30 and called in the NICU girls which pretty much scared me to death. He then said the words that really scared me 'we have 2 options.' Joe looked like he was about to fall out of his chair as it was, and that didn't help. My options were forceps or c-section. Granted I had been pushing for about 45 minutes at this point, I opted for the forceps. The little guy was turned sideways, and his shoulders were stuck. Once he got him turned, it took 4 pushes and he was out. I cried so hard when I saw him, which is very much NOT me, but I was so relieved that he was here and safe.
No one can ever prepare you for the day you have a baby. They can try, but you never really get it until it happens to you. We are blessed beyond measure to have a perfect baby boy!! He weighed 7 lbs 4 oz and was 20.5" long.

Milestones...things people forget to tell you...

Here is a short list of pregnancy 'milestones' that a lot of people fail to share...of course you have to obvious days that you will never forget...first kick, first ultrasound, when you find out the sex, etc. but these are days that have an equal impact...

Days you'll remember...

*the first time you sit down to pee and your stomach rests on your thighs.

*the first day you sit down to pee and your boobs rest on your stomach.

*the first day you bend down to pick something up and almost do a front roll because your body no longer bends that way.

*the first time you look down and see your stomach move like a wave. not just a kick, but it looks like there is a snake in there moving in 8 directions at once...freaky.

*the first morning you wake up and you have wet circles on your shirt...

*the first time you sit down to pee and your boobs don't rest on your stomach anymore because your baby has dropped.

*the first time the doctor 'checks' you and you wince in pain only to have a hot flash when he tells you that you are dilated. (for me this was an omg i'm really having a baby moment)

*the first day that you go to the bathroom to see if there is an arm hanging out because that is the only explanation for the sensation you just felt 'down there.'

Those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there were many other 'why didn't anyone tell me about this' moments, but that's all I've got for now.

I am actually due 7 days from today, but the doctor says he will induce me in 14 if I haven't had Beckett yet. He said he highly doubts that I will make it until then, but at this point I'm not really believing anything he says. Pretty sure he will still be in there come August!

Quick update

on pregnancy...

i went to the doctor this morning and everything looked great. i have gained 15 pounds now, and beckett has a very strong heartbeat. i will go back in 2 weeks, and after that its every monday until he arrives. below is a picture from 2 weeks ago (31 weeks pregnant)

on moving...

joe and i sold our house (yippy), but can't find anything we really want to buy. so, we are moving in with my parents this coming weekend. i'm a little torn on how this makes me feel, but all together i think it will be fine. as soon as something comes on the market, we will be ready to snatch it up!

on work...

with the job market the way it is, i won't complain about my job. i'll only say that i am very much looking forward to maternity leave...

28 weeks, hot dogs, nachos, and vacation

As of tomorrow, I will be 28 weeks along. My sugar test came back fine, and I am really starting to show. I have at least 5 strangers a week ask me what I'm having, so that must mean that I am for real over the looking fat stage. Beckett will be here within the next 12 weeks...that's starting to be a little scary. He had hiccups for the first time last night, and Joe felt him move for the first time also. It was a pretty exciting night around our house.

I think B will come out expecting to have hot dogs and nachos every night for dinner. Since I am in a gym on M, Tu, Th, F, and most Saturdays, this has become his regular meal. Luckily for him (and me), we only have a few weeks left of concession stand gourmet.

We got our vacation booked last week. Summer/Jeremy/Peyton/Addison/Joe/Ash/Beck will be living up the beach life right down the street from Tracy the last week of June. Some people say we are crazy for taking a 2 month old baby that far away, but I think it is going to be so fun. It will give me something to look forward to once my maternity leave is over.

I am going to do my best to take a picture every week of myself until he is born. I'll start posting them soon.

Photo Tag Survey

1. Go to Google.

2. Do an Image search for your answer to each question

3. Pick a picture off the first page of images that best answers the question

Here are my results:

1) what i am doing right now

Procrastinating

Yep, you caught me...I've got several things to do at work and I'm putting them off. I have issues with getting things done right away. For some reason I like to put it off until close to the last minute. I was going to say something here about stressing out, but I rarely stress about anything...

2) my age

Twenty Six

Sadly, I really had to think about how old I was to answer this question. My instinct said 25, but I knew that was wrong. I like this picture because it reminds me of the eye doctor...he likes to take my $$.

3) first name

Ashley

So this girl's name is Ashley Scott...like me...weird! My stomach sticks out a little bit more than hers does at 25 weeks pregnant though :)

4) middle name

Gray

These gray pavers are somewhat representative of me...very architectural.

5) last name

Scott

That's right...we make TP.

6) maiden name

Gartman

This cracked me up! It's you Jessica! That really came up on the first page.

7) favorite food

Candy

So I don't know if that's technically a food, but holy mother that looks good!

8) bad habit

Stalking people on facebook

I seriously can't help myself!

9) past pet

Bentley

Too bad I didn't have the car instead of the dog...

10)grandma's name

Trula

My mom's mom...this isn't her, but I bet she has a similar picture some where. I love her name though. If we were having a girl, I really wanted her middle name to be Tru.

11) past love

Volleyball

I really loved it! It was so much fun to play. If only I had taken it more seriously...

12) first job

Secretary at Gartman Systems

I was obsessed with being my Dad's secretary when I was a kid. I just knew Chris was going to take over the business, and I was going to answer the phones...high ambitions...

13) favorite place

Home

A little average and normal, but since we aren't home very often its nice to be there and enjoy it when we are...I promise if my house looked like this one, I would spend more time in it!

14) if i went back to school i would
be a home economics teacher

This is still on the table. Technically I wouldn't have to go back to school because my degree is in this field...I think it would be so fun. I don't know about making these pies all day though...

15) if i could visit any place in the world
Las Vegas

My husband has been twice and I get angry every time he mentions it because I want to go so bad!! We will make it soon enough though...and of course when millions!

Happy New Year!!

Here are a few pictures from our New Years celbration. We went to eat with some friends at Samurai and then went over to Chris's house to play Guitar Hero.

My husband is quite the lead vocalist, and I did ok at my first attempt at drums.
It was fun and I really enjoyed getting to spend some time with Heather!

One last picture of that evening...can you see Beckett? (Oh, in case you didn't know, that's for real the baby's name)

The year got started on a great not with Greg and Heather Mouton having their little (well actually big) baby boy Asher Joel.

He is so cute!

Here is a picture of the monster.

9 lbs 10 oz.

Now if I can just talk Jessica into having baby Avery we will all be set! She is due on January 16, so it could be any day now.
